IT Modernization Analyst

We are working with a successful Government Agency in downtown Austin, Texas, to find an IT Modernization Analyst to join their team. This is a contract position, expected to start in early November 2026 and run for 12 months, with possible extension. You will need to be based in Austin or commutable to Austin. This position is on-site Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple internal IT modernization initiatives at the same time
• Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs and gather, document, validate, and prioritize requirements
• Evaluate current-state processes and systems to find inefficiencies, gaps, duplication, and manual work
• Identify and recommend opportunities for automation and modernization
• Turn complex information into clear documentation, findings, presentations, and decision-support materials
• Use data and research to evaluate options and support recommendations
• Use AI tools to analyze and synthesize information, and check outputs for accuracy

Requirements

• 8+ years of senior-level business, process, or systems analysis or technology modernization experience
• 8+ years gathering and prioritizing business and functional requirements with stakeholders
• 5+ years analyzing workflows to find opportunities for automation or modernization
• 5+ years managing multiple concurrent initiatives with competing priorities
• 3+ years creating clear documentation, findings, and presentations for varied audiences
• 3+ years using qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends and support recommendations
• 1+ year using generative AI tools to research, analyze, and summarize information
• Must pass a background check

Preferred

• 3+ years in an Agile, product, project, or portfolio management environment
• Texas state government, higher education, or other public-sector experience
