Senior Software Engineer / Engineering Leader - Healthtech Startup
This role is based in Austin, TX, and while our team is fairly distributed, our core group is based in downtown Austin, TX, and we are looking for candidates who are either based in Austin or willing to relocate. We believe that a few days of in-person collaboration each week fosters better communication, stronger relationships, and more effective problem-solving. Our client is a well-funded, pre-Series A fast-growing company in the Healthcare Technology / Virtual Care Management space. They expect to be profitable in early 2025 and raise a Series A/B round of funding as well so the time to join the company is now. Compensation-wise, this role is Salaried + Pre-Series A Equity. We are looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer / Engineering Leader with a passion for healthcare and AI. In this role reporting to the CTO, you'll leverage your technical expertise, lead the recruitment and management of both onshore and offshore development teams, and actively contribute to our codebase. We expect this role to grow into a leadership role managing people and contractors and while some team lead or people management experience is a plus, it is not required. What is most required is a solid hands-on technical capabilities coupled with startup DNA. This will be hard work for the next few years as we scale and grow.
As a growing company with a lean in-house team, we prioritize efficiency and productivity while we grow. Our stack is composed of Python / FastAPI, Typescript, React, and React Native hosted on GCP. And though this is a technical role, we would love to find someone with a solid business sense who can connect the dots with the business vs just the technology. You enjoy collaborating with UX, Product, Leadership, and Operations and are eager to proactively contribute to the ongoing growth and evolution of the company.
Early Success Metrics:
- The ideal candidate will be someone who remains hands-on and desires a hands-on role. People Management experience is not required and we are happy to consider a sharp candidate early in their career with no management experience.
- Delivery: Demonstrate being able to ship code quickly. Your role will be 50-80% coding. Even the CTO is hands-on.
- Processes: Take the lead to set engineering guidelines, processes, workflows & standards. Review CI/CD, automations, …
- Collaboration: Meet & communicate with other team members.
- Meet and start to handle most of the interactions with offshore developers & contractors.
- Strategy: Align roadmap/tech stack with business goals; identify quick wins.
- Identity areas of improvement: assessment of current tech stack, code quality, security, infrastructure
