Grant Specialist - Government State Agency
This will be a six-month contract with the potential of a permanent position at the end. You will need to be and will be based in Austin, or commutable to downtown. This position will be in-office 1-2 days/week but this may be subject to change so you must be comfortable with a hybrid role.
We are hiring 2 Grant Specialists at with accompanying experience requirements and compensation levels.
As a Grant Specialist, you perform complex grant development and administration for a newly created State Agency, within the Office of the Governor that has opened up over $150 Million to award Government entities, higher-learning institutions, businesses, and non-profits to use on projects tied to new spaceflight technologies, space-related research or workforce training, curation of materials involved in space exploration or spaceport development. This is a unique opportunity to be a huge part of growing the space industry sector across Texas.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and interprets policies, rules, and regulations providing guidance to staff and the community and resolving related issues and concerns.
- Ensures grantees’ compliance with conditions of grants by monitoring and analyzing agreements, contracts, expenses, activities, and federal and state regulations, and clears the conditions when all requirements are met, in coordination with the Chief Compliance Officer.
- Reviews submitted grant applications and assists in determining an applicant’s eligibility for award based on established criteria.
- Provides guidance to the Board, Commission staff, grantees, applicants, and others, including via conferencing and other means.
- Initiates contact with requestors to discuss potential ineligible items or to request additional documentation to support requested funds.
- Professionally communicates with city and county leaders, private industry stakeholders, state agency executives, and other professionals about grant priorities, guidelines, and requirements.
- Analyzes project costs and prepares budget justifications and budget revisions for awarded grants.
- Serves as a liaison between the agency, the State, and potential grant funding recipients by attending meetings, responding to information requests, and resolving issues between parties involved.
- Maintains files and records and prepares reports related to grants issued and/or received.
- Develops and amends grant contracts, in coordination with the Chief Compliance Officer, including grant contracts awarded to sub-recipients.
- Prepares grant closeout materials.
- Prepares grant applications, award notification letters, and other official correspondence with grantees.
- Coordinate cross-functional workgroups composed of internal and external stakeholders to develop program objectives, work plans, and budgets.
- Develops and implements procedures for activity development and determines grant worthiness.
- Monitors the implementation, management, evaluation, and close-out of grants according to rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in administration, development, coordination, and monitoring of grants.
- Prefer current accreditation as a Certified Texas Contract Manager.
- Prefer experience working at a government agency (local/state/federal).
