Civil Engineer - Landfill Construction / CCR Remediation
This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Be a technical expert supporting a multi-year $400M coal plant cleanup alongside a senior project manager, delivering lasting environmental improvement.
Role Summary
The Civil Engineer will provide expertise in the technical design, specification, and implementation of civil works required for CCR removal, landfill construction, earthwork, and related site restoration activities. Responsibilities cover both office and field engineering, collaborating directly with the project manager for timely, compliant, and high-quality execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of remediation plans, landfill enclosures, and civil infrastructure for contaminated sites.
- Assist in preparing engineering drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates specific to material excavation, handling, grading, and liner installation.
- Conduct field investigations, support site assessments, collect samples, and monitor civil construction activities to validate compliance and quality standards.
- Analyze sample and environmental data, generate technical reports, and document remediation progress.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies for permitting, inspections, and problem-solving.
- Advise on constructability, safety, and environmental compliance for earthwork and landfill-related engineering activities.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local engineering regulations impacting CCR remediation and landfill construction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Environmental Engineering preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in civil/site engineering, with specific exposure to remediation or landfill construction projects.
- Working knowledge of CCR or hazardous waste remediation, landfill design, and regulatory permitting highly desirable.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other engineering design software applications.
- Understanding of field sampling protocols, construction inspection, and documentation standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical reporting ability.
- PE license or progress toward PE licensure preferred.
- OSHA HAZWOPER certification beneficial.

- This position is primarily remote but requires occasional Midwest site visits for inspections and field support.
