This role is in-office in Austin, TX. You must be local or willing to re-locate. 

Our client is a well-funded multi-site services / technology company headquartered in Austin, TX.

We are looking for our first BI / Analytics Engineer to give us the ability to answer complicated questions about our business and our customers. These questions come from both internal business stakeholders as well as external clients. As it stands, we have the ability to run basic requests through Metabase using our current data architecture but there are significant shortcomings to that process. You will help us think through data taxonomies and structures and work with the Head of Engineering to work it into the backend and front end codebase so reports can be pulled. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design data taxonomies/structures that address key questions we need to answer about our customers.
• Partner with VPE/Product to integrate into backend/FE codebase, enabling pullable reports that provide insight into key business problems. 
• Maintain data quality/reliability as the go-to for external customer facing needs and questions. 

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong SQL/Python for modeling, taxonomies, and light ETL (more DE than pure BI).
• Backend collab experience (e.g., schema design reflected in app code).
• BI tools (Metabase/Tableau expert); AWS/Heroku a plus.
• Recommend additional ETL / ELT and Data Modeling tools as needed. 
• Business acumen: You can understand our business model and the "why" behind the data. 
• Growth-stage scrappiness: Fix shortcomings in current data architecture/processes.
